Big Changes for Women’s Road Racing in 2017

Yesterday the Alberta Bicycle Association announced the official rule changes for 2017.

For 2017 category 3 women will be required to race in category 1/2/3.
The second category will now be category 4/5

When I read this I was absolutely ecstatic. I truly feel this is the best move for the development of women in Alberta. Particularly with the willingness of race directors to provide women with a separate race. I know some of you are scared/frustrated by this news. You don’t need to be. The number of category 3 women is larger than it has been in a long time. If everyone who raced down in category 3 last year continues to race this year we will have nicely sized field of great women to ride with in a race that is all our own.

This is a wonderful opportunity for women to grow and develop.
I am so excited to see what this year brings.
Thank you ABA!

  1. After I initially commented I clicked the -Notify me when new feedback are added- checkbox and now each time a comment is added I get 4 emails with the same comment. Is there any way you’ll be able to take away me from that service? Thanks!

  2. We are using Word Press.
The platform is very user friendly so you do not need to know any HTML coding to create a great looking blog!
    Good luck. 🙂

  3. Have you ever considered about adding a little bit more than just your articles? I mean, what you say is important and everything. But imagine if you added some great visuals or videos to give your posts more, “pop”! Your content is excellent but with pics and video clips, this blog could undeniably be one of the most beneficial in its niche. Very good blog!
